Business Development for Public Sector

Banjo is looking for a Business Development professional for our public sector market in Utah.

The ideal candidate has a technical background, sound business judgment, business development and a proven track record of successful complex deal negotiations. THIS IS NOT A SALES ROLE. The focus of this role is to build rapport, answer questions, demo the product, and create a successful path to product implementation with inbound customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment while operating with a high sense of urgency
  • Demonstrate and explain the technical product to customers
  • Attend trade shows, sales meetings, conferences, community organizations, or other venues to demonstrate the product and answer questions from potential customers
  • Prepare or alter presentation contents to target specific audiences
  • You will need to exercise your influence skills to manage internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery to customers  
  • Build and maintain trust-based professional relationships with key decision-makers
  • Drive a proactive culture of partnership and customer service to discover their “points of pain” and develop solutions
  • Proactively communicate with Banjo senior management relative to expectations, strategy and performance growth
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of all customer engagements 
  • Negotiate the contract process with the customer, including services agreements, statements of work, and other technology transactions
  • Analyze opportunities to improve existing contracts
  • Prepare reports and information as requested

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, IT, engineering, finance or experience, and education equivalent
  • 10 + years of professional experience
  • Experience in the Public Sector (e.g., Government, Law Enforcement, Emergency Response, etc is preferred) 
  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to carry on a business conversation with customers or decision-makers
  • Extensive face-to-face customer  experience at the mid to senior levels
  • Strong multi-level relationship management, persuasion, and influencing skills
  • Strong communication skills, ability to adapt to and understand complex technical requirements
  • Passion for connecting with customers and differentiating value in the marketplace
  • Experience working in a technology environment with strong interpersonal skills to communicate clearly and work across the organization. Able to work as part of a team.
  • Experience in contract negotiation
  • Tenacity and sense of urgency; Ability make things happen quickly with large, less nimble partners
  • Sound business judgment and strong analytical thinking
  • Local knowledge and contacts in the market preferred
  • Some travel will be required for this position
